OUTLIVING SHAKESPEARE

Here where a cane sometimes doubles as a billiard cue and dramas both small and large occur naturally, a theatre producer in desperate need of performers discovers an untapped reservoir. In an Armenian retirement home, a theatre group rehearses the play "Shakespeare's Sins", in which the legendary bard is confronted by his own characters. At the same time, the film provides insight into the residents' everyday lives: some spend their days reminiscing, others find love, still others long to see their families or places they once called home. In subtle, humorous scenes, a moving portrait takes shape, amidst crumbling walls, stray cats and the strivings of a modern robot caregiver.
